Volkswagen is planning to launch the luxury sedan Phaeton in India in coming months. The car is built on the same platform as Audi A8. Phaeton is a perfect combination of premium materials, pioneering technology and exceptional designs. While its exterior is classy, the interiors carry the elegance a little further.
Phaeton has some cool features like draftless four-zone climate system, air compressor suspension system, standard 4motion four wheel drive and the ability to select a preferred ride type. The car has almost 100 patents specific to it. Phaeton V8 is a 6-speed automatic transmission model that gives 335 hp, while the magnanimous W12 is 5-speed automatic and promises 420 hp. Standard features of the car include ABS, anti-skid system, front and rear torso side airbags and head-protecting curtain side airbags. The interior of the car has a built-in dehumidifier, which prevents it from steaming up. Air suspension within the car is designed in such a way that it automatically adjusts firmness within four driver-selectable levels.
Phaeton will be available in both petrol and diesel versions with 4.2-litre and 6.0-litre engine options that will be powered by a V6, V10, or W12 engine configuration. The car is likely to be launched in India at the end of 2009.
